The Greenbelt Fund
The Greenbelt Fund is a non-profit organization created, among other reasons, to support and enhance the viability, integrity and sustainability of agricultural and viticulture industries in Ontario and Ontario’s Greenbelt.

The Fund is a partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs to deliver two key activities – the funding of broader public sector local food efforts and the promotion of local food to support and build momentum in the sector.

The partnership supports the following activities that further support increases in local and sustainable food purchases by the sector.

• the maintenance of Ontariofresh.ca, the only province-wide electronic networking and marketing service where food service buyers can source a diverse range and volume of Ontario products
• monitoring and evaluation activities to track increases in the purchase of local food by the broader public sector
• sharing information on how institutions, farmers and others along the value chain are changing their operations and policies to make buying local happen on a significant scale
• celebrating successes
